'Discovering Santander' offers six proposals on the city artistic.
'Discovering Santander' offers six different looks over the city, six artistic proposals that reflect on the use, disuse and the reconversion of urban areas. The proposal is part of the programming of sleepless 2010, a multidisciplinary festival organized by the Fundacion Santander ACAI 2016 and the association that develops between this Monday and next Sunday.
'Discovering Santander', curated by Lydia Gil and coordinated by, gaia gold, Carmen Quijano, promotes reflection by various artistic disciplines such as performance, painting, photography or sculpture. The interventions, many of which can be enjoyed from this Monday, will stay in the city until 16 October.
The artist Majo. G. Polanco (San Sebastian, 1973) presented his project 'Counting stairs', to interpret a performance twice, on Tuesday, day 21, at 2200 hours on the steps of San Celedonio, fallen earth power leveling, street and next Thursday, also at 22.00 pm in the slope of the Hospital, across from City Hall.
Majo G. Polanco reflects on his performance on the social reality of the neighborhoods and addresses controversial aspects of contemporary society, thereby promoting reflection and debate.
TEAM + TLoeN formed by Manin Carrera (Selaya 1966) and, gaia items, Luis Felipe Gonzalez (Colombia 1965), has prepared a project named the 'Eurototem', a sculptural installation made from recyclable materials. The proposal, which can be seen at Finca Altamira General Davila Street, is expressed as the current society needs to regain the Greek concept that originated in Europe and give greater prominence to culture in its different aspects.
Maria Jose Pardo (Suances, 1974) and Paul Gregor (Santander 1968) involved with 'Level', a sculptural installation and sound that blends the magic, fiction and reality and you can see the Mercado de la Esperanza. The artists use photographs, mirrors and technological elements to create doubts and confusion virtual given to space, to look at the small nooks and amplify the minimal scenes.
Alfonso Guazo (Pujayo 1975) presented his project 'The Wait', a sculptural installation in an old wall and positioning beacon for vessels located in the gardens of the Palacio de la Magdalena. The artist involved in this mark by redefining painting and sculpture so obsolete infrastructure.
Nacho Lopez (Santander 1974) presents 'Stairs to the neighborhood', a very striking intervention plastic vinyl used to make great photographs stairs or wall. Nacho Lopez conducts interventions in three different places: at San Celedonio, in the street Cuesta del Hospital and St. Anton. The artist aims to create a link between physical space and the people who inhabit them.
The last of the proposals coming from the hand of Space Image, an association that brings together amateurs and professionals from Cantabria linked to the world of the image. His project is a photographic exhibition, 'Revelations of urban space', which seeks to offer a new perspective on urban spaces into disuse. It opens next Sunday at 19.00 and will be open until 16 October.
